Recitation Modes and Chains of Transmission: This second section teaches the successive recitation modes through memorization, understanding, explanation, and application from the following books:

  • Text of Al-Shatibiyyah for the seven recitations by Imam al-Shatibi
  • Text of Al-Durrah Al-Mudiyyah for the three recitations that complete the ten approved recitations by Imam Ibn Al-Jazari

The Higher Specialization: This third branch encompasses all the specialized sciences related to Quranic recitations, grounded in a comprehensive and in-depth study of the discipline. It examines the origin and development of these recitations, tracing their description and form from the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to the present day. The branch explores the connection between the Quran and its various recitation modes, the successive narration of these modes, and the authenticity of their chains of transmission. Additionally, it delves into the knowledge of anomalous and interpretive recitations, the context of their origin, and the reasons for differences among recitation modes, as well as the criteria for preferring one over another.

Furthermore, this branch investigates the influence of Quranic recitation sciences on other Islamic disciplines and their interdisciplinary relationships. It covers specific aspects such as the rules of stopping and starting in recitation, the writing style of the Quranic text and its precision, compatibility of the Quranic text with Arabic language and literature. The study also includes the attribution, differentiation, and refinement of narration chains, the classification of reciters, and notable doubts raised about recitation modes and their related sciences—along with scholarly responses to these doubts. This extensive field ensures a thorough understanding of Quranic recitation in both its historical and contemporary contexts.
