Arabic Language Institute
Nurturing Proficiency in Arabic
Placement Test
Purpose: To assess students’ Arabic language proficiency upon entry to An-Nour Institute.
A non-native speaker takes a placement test to determine their appropriate level (beginner, intermediate, or advanced). The test evaluates grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and oral expression. By using these assessments, educators can identify the specific strengths and weaknesses of each student, allowing for tailored instruction that meets individual learning needs.
The results from these internal tests help in placing students in appropriate classes or programs, ensuring that they receive the right level of challenge and support. Additionally, internal language tests provide valuable data that can inform curriculum adjustments and teaching strategies, ultimately enhancing the overall quality of language education within the Arabic Language Institute.
This evaluation is also a crucial component of the whole educational ecosystem offered by An-Nour Institute as Arabic is regarded the medium of instruction, therefore many academic programs require a minimum level of Arabic fluency in order for students to interact with Arabic-speaking instructors while pursuing their studies.
Integration with Islamic Studies: Students should be prepared for questions that assess their comprehension of classical Islamic texts, including expressions found in the Holy Quran and Hadith. This approach involves engaging with Quranic verses, Hadith, and classical texts of fiqh, literature, poems, etc., to test Arabic language understanding. These components are integral to Arab culture and society, and they serve as powerful tools for testing in-depth language comprehension.
The institute offers an immersive educational program on theoretical and practical materials for those passionate about delving into Islamic sciences through the medium of Arabic. Guided by the esteemed Al-Azhar Al-Sharif series, students advance from beginner to proficiency levels.
Over twelve months, our students progress through six levels, each comprising eight weeks of intensive study with a total of one hundred and forty-four hours of study for the level. These hours are meticulously divided across four essential skills: reading, listening, writing, and speaking.
Following a comprehensive placement test, the program ascertains the student’s study level. Upon successful completion of each stage, the student receives a certificate. Additionally, after passing all levels, they earn an accredited proficiency certificate from the esteemed An-Nour Institute for Al-Azhar Education.
The institution provides gender-segregated classes for male and female students, ensuring a comfortable and conducive learning environment for everyone.
